Fathers Day – 25.08.2010

My dad has a wierd obsession with leiderhosen. I’ve seen pictures of him wearing them in highschool, and to this day he swears they are the most comfortable item of clothing he has ever worn. Unable to find the leather embroidered garment in the US, he is seen daily in shorts with long tube socks and sandals, cutting the shape of the token Dad. He makes a mean chocolate chip cookie, loves parody songs by Wierd Al Yankovic is obsessed with chopped wood piles and handmade rock walls. So much in fact, that on family road trips we would often pull off the road to marvel at the craftsmanship of a perfectly cut and stacked pyramid of logs and listen to comments about the high heat and long lasting burning ability of different woods, and the importance of curing before burning. This kind of dependability is the reason dads are so ace. They deserve a day where we celebrate them for their interesting clothing choices, bad jokes and ridiculous hobbies, and let them be as embarrassing as they want to be. This week we are celebrating dads, so send us your best dad joke and get a chance to win a special present for your pop.
